How our prices work
Where the prices come from
Every price on FareTell was found by a traveler's search on Aviasales. Aviasales shares those results with travel sites like ours through Travelpayouts, and we collect them for every departure airport they cover, one-way and return. We show each price for up to 7 days after it was found, with how long ago that was. When a route has nothing that recent, its page shows the newest older price, up to 30 days old, with the day it was found. We do not sell tickets: you book with the airline or travel agency you choose on Aviasales.
Why a price can be different when you click
Airlines change fares many times a day. The cheapest seats on a flight sell first, and when they are gone the next seat costs more; sometimes a fare comes back cheaper. So a price found hours ago can move either way by the time you look. Our saved prices come from Aviasales' United States market, and the Aviasales site in your country, or a live search from your country, can show a different price for the same flight. We show how long ago each price was found. After 7 days a price shows only on a route that has nothing newer, with the day it was found, and never after 30 days.
Where the buttons take you
"Open this trip" is on one-way prices: it opens that exact trip on Aviasales, which searches it again and shows today's price, or says the ticket has gone and offers others. Returns, and any price we cannot link to its exact trip, have "See prices for these dates": it opens Aviasales' search for those dates, with today's prices from every seller, because in our checks an exact return trip had gone more often. "Check today's price" runs a live search on FareTell for the same dates. Before Aviasales opens, a FareTell screen names it for 2 seconds. You land on your own country's Aviasales site where there is one, such as aviasales.in in India or aviasales.es in Spain, and on aviasales.com everywhere else.
Currency
Prices are in US dollars. For flights leaving Canada we show Canadian dollars first, converted at the Bank of Canada's daily rate, with the US dollar price beside it. When you click through, Aviasales opens in the currency the page showed; a site that does not take Canadian dollars opens in US dollars. When you check a fare you found, you can type it in any currency the Bank of Canada publishes a daily rate for; we convert it at that day's rate and say which rate we used.
Fees and bags
Each price is the price the seller showed on Aviasales. A seller can add its own fees at checkout, and checked bags and seat choice may cost extra; the seller's page shows the final price before you pay. A trip on separate tickets may mean collecting your bags and checking in again at the connection; we say so on the trip when we can tell.
